ABOUT
FIRST FLIGHT HOSA

OUR
HISTORY
.

First Flight HOSA isn't just your average school club.  First Flight HOSA is a club where people who want to have a career in the medical field can participate in competitions and community events like blood drives.  Being a member of this club is very easy but at the same time very complex.  Not only are you planning for events like blood drives, or other community functions,  you can also be preparing for a Regional, State, or International competition at HOSA's Leadership Conferences.

HOSA clubs are mainly run by students: everything this club does is done by the students.  All of the events are run by them, voted on, and even leadership is in the student's hands.

First Flight HOSA has slowly gained momentum over the last several years. .  After countless hours of getting people to join, the numbers started to rise.  FF HOSA advisor, Jennifer Kovacs, started this club in 2015 when she became the Health Sciences teacher for First Flight High School.   Once she had started to advertise the club to her students, it gained popularity amongst her classes.  For the past 7 years,  there have also been many students with an interest in Healthcare in their future prompting them to become members.

HOSA clubs consist of different leadership roles like President, Vice President, Secretary, and Public Relations. All of those positions are voted on by the students. These roles have responsibilities to help keep the club running.  Presidents make vital decisions on what events to do and what they are about.  Secretaries keep notes on everything that goes on in and out of meetings, including note-taking in meetings, keeping track of members, and other vital information.  Public Relations assists the Secretary and communicates with the School Newspapers and Morning Announcements.

This year's Leadership  positions are staffed by:

 - Co-Presidents: Sophia Martin & JP Kovacs

 - Secretary: Daisy Morales Bravo

PARTNERS.

Throughout the years we have worked with some amazing companies to make what we do a smooth operation.  The American Red Cross has been with us for the past 7 years assisting us to run our Blood Drives.  This year we are joining forces with The Blood Connection in the effort to increase the potential supply of blood for our community since they provide our local hospital with most of its blood. We just recently partnered with Be the Match and the Dare County Health Department to get better involvement from our community in our Annual Trifecta Event.  We would like to thank all of our partners for their support as our efforts to build a community with our school as a beneficial factor in providing our community with the blood, supplies, and other healthcare needs.
